POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Youth Drop-In Coordinator to join our team, working collaboratively to enhance the wellness, engagement, and development of youth in our community.
Under the direction of the Youth Drop in Team Lead, the Youth Drop-In Coordinator provides culturally informed leadership and programming to youth. This role involves planning and organizing drop-in sessions, coordinating with Schools’ Out Program, and managing all aspects of program delivery, including outreach, activity planning, facility management, and participant safety. The Youth Drop-In Coordinator will also engage in community relations activities to build trust and encourage youth participation, while supporting their wellbeing through mentorship, outreach, and resource connections.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or certificate in social work, youth work or a related field. Other forms of post-secondary education and training, including teachings from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, will be considered.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience working within Indigenous communities, focusing on youth drop-in centers.
  • FoodSafe Level 1 required
  • First Aid Level 1 required
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in program planning, delivery, and coordination is required.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with youth and families.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles, wellness promotion, and cultural sensitivity, particularly in Indigenous communities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of the program and participants.
