Program Overview: Teen Community Connection (TCC) is an afterschool and spring / summer camp program focused on developing social skills and independence for youth with diverse abilities. This is done through connecting with community partners, encouraging positive interactions with other teens and staff, and teaching wellness practices. Activities are intentional, educational, and fun for everyone!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Commitment to inclusion and equitable practices.
  2. Knowledge and experience working with children, youth, teens and/or adults with physical or intellectual disabilities.
  3. Experience working in an environment with a high degree of responsibility and independence.
  4. Exceptional communication skills.
  5. Good organizational skills and self-reliance.
  6. Ability to adapt to changes and willing to be active in a variety of settings.
  7. Valid Emergency First Aid and C.P.R. C certification.
  8. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  9. Knowledge of community resources is an asset.

Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate the recreation needs of the teen and the assistance required for each teen to participate in the after-school program activities.
  2. Assist participants with the continued development of social and life skills and fulfillment of personal and community goals.
  3. Provide safe and appropriate assistance to the youth during the summer camp program.
  4. Supply transportation for participants from school and to planned activities using program and/or personal vehicles (where required).
  5. Encourage integration into the community and interaction between other peer groups.
  6. Assist with personal care needs as required.
  7. Perform duties in accordance with the approved policies and procedures of the agency.
  8. Report all critical incidences to the supervisor and submit monthly records/expenditures in a timely matter.
