Position: Part Time Youth Outreach Worker- 30 hours per week
Location: Revelstoke, BC
Hours:30 hours per week
Wage: $27.54 per hour; as per the collective agreement

SUMMARY:

Axis Family Resources Ltd. is hiring a Part-Time Youth Outreach Worker to support Persons Served living in our Specialized Supportive Housing. Building and maintaining healthy relationships with our Persons Served through a trauma-informed practice is the core of our work. You will promote a positive and healthy environment that supports our persons served towards achieving educational, social, and recreational goals while focusing on daily life skills development. Resiliency, empathy, patience, and the ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries are qualities of people who establish a meaningful career with Axis.
The successful candidate in this position will be motivated to empower youth between the ages of 13-18 years old in attending appointments, increasing communication, social and daily living skills, participating in recreational activities, setting goals and providing support to youth in caregiver and staff resourced homes. Experience working with complex behaviors such as Oppositional Defiance Disorder, RAD, ADHD, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Trauma, FASD as well as addictions or youth probation is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • A certificate or diploma in Community Services, Health Care Aid, Human Services, or other related discipline
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in social services is preferred
  • Related experience in working with vulnerable populations or behavioural challenges will also be considered an asset (please outline type of experience in the ‘message to the employer’ section during the application process)
  • Reliable transportation and a valid BC driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of and the ability to work with complex trauma, Autism, FASD, ODD or other neurobiological conditions is beneficial
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (agency conducted, expenses covered)
  • Effective written and verbal communication
