POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Youth Program Supervisor (or designate), the Youth Program Worker will support the planning and delivery of youth programs, ensuring that activities are safe, inclusive, and engaging. This role works directly with youth participants (12-19 years old), assisting program team with mentorship, recreation, workshops, and community events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum one year of experience working with youth in a community setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and build trust with diverse youth populations
  • Strong communication, leadership, facilitation, and program planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and adapt different types of programming for young people.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Currently enrolled/completed education in recreation, social work, or child and youth work is an asset
  • Knowledge of community life in Southwest Scarborough is an asset.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate and Food Handler’s Certification are an asset.
  • A clear Criminal Reference Check is a condition of employment.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of youth programs, including drop-ins, workshops, and community events.
  • Mentor and engage youth participants in activities such as sports, recreation, arts, and personal development.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
  • Build positive relationships with youth, families, and community members.
  • Assist program staff in setting up, facilitating, and cleaning up after activities.
  • Support documentation of program activities and assist with program planning, evaluation, and reporting as part of the Youth Program team.
  • Participate in staff training, meetings, and community events as required.
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration, contribute with enthusiasm to WWCC initiatives, and embody the values of Warden Woods as part of our unique communities.
