Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a Full Time Youth Resource Navigator in the Family Enrichment Department. As the Youth Resource Navigator, you are responsible for the coordination of services for children and youth who have been impacted by the opioid crisis and other substance use disorders, by providing supportive services for young clients and their families.
This is a full time (40hrs per week) hybrid/remote position mostly working out in the community and schools throughout Penobscot & Piscataquis counties.

Youth Resource Navigator Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health, Social Work, or related field with 2-3 experience years volunteering and/or working with and for young people, specifically in the areas of resiliency building, trauma, or direct social services.
  • Experience working with teens or at-risk youth; and experience with family systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills demonstrated by work within the community which included facilitation and training.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours with reliable, insured transportation.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions
Responsibilities
  • Assisting families with applications for mainstream services and assistance.
  • Facilitating or co-facilitating curriculum-based group education to children affected by substance misuse.
  • Network with area providers and community members to stay informed regarding available resources, services, and service gaps.
  • Identify and facilitate pro-social opportunities for affected youth.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and prepare required reports.
