Description AR 2620 JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE Youth Services Assistant SALARY GRADE III FLSA Non-Exempt LOCATION Youth Services SUPERVISOR Assistant Department Head, Youth Services JOB SUMMARY Support the Youth Services Department by initiating and reinforcing consistent workflow, providing excellent youth services, and assisting with programming and promotions. MAJOR TASKS The nature of assigned tasks and responsibilities will depend, in part, upon the number of hours scheduled. Oversee the youth reference desk in coordination with department librarians. Answer directional questions placed via any format. Assist patrons in locating information and materials. Assist patrons in the use of library equipment. Provide reader’s advisory service. Support programming, including but not limited to, material preparation and assistance during programs. Assist in maintenance of the library’s physical collection, including shelving and book repair. Keep informed of developments in the library and youth services fields through reading and participation in professional activities and meetings. Perform other tasks assigned by department supervisor. Assume responsibility for Youth Services Department in the absence of the supervisor and/or department librarians. Requirements REQUIREMENTS High school diploma; Library experience preferred; Interest and ability in working with the public, specifically children; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to work independently and with attention to detail; High degree of computer literacy; Schedule includes evenings and weekends (OLPL Employee Benefits) https://www.olpl.org/media/117
