REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working with young people in a support capacity
  • Knowledge of the challenges facing young people who have experienced homelessness, family breakdown or other challenging circumstances.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop positive relationships with young people, families, and professionals.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Experience is not essential as we provide full training and support
Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team and provide support to young people aged 16 to 18 years old who are living in supported accommodation. This is a rewarding and challenging role that will require you to work with a diverse range of young people who may have experienced homelessness, family breakdown or other challenging circumstances
To provide the skills needed to enable the Young person to be fully independent upon leaving the accommodation at 18.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day-to-day support to young people living in the accommodation, including emotional support, practical assistance with daily living tasks, and promoting independence.
  • Support young people in maintaining their placement and engaging with education, training, or employment opportunities.
  • Develop positive relationships with young people and their families or other relevant parties, such as social workers or other professionals.
  • Promote a safe and supportive environment for young people, ensuring that safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including support plans and risk assessments.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the placement
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • To follow the designated pathway plan, drawn up by the Social worker, to support the young person with their daily living needs.
  • Ensure the Young person has a good standard of personal hygiene.
  • Assist with budgeting and shopping when needed.
  • To partake in motivational activities with the Young person
  • Daily use of in-house computer programme

ANY OTHER DUTIES:

  • It is essential that all Support Workers are flexible and able to work and meet the needs of our Young people and undertake tasks that senior management regard as applicable to the role of the Support Worker.
  • You may be required to partake in activities away from the accommodation, in these circumstances you will be required to use your own transport and mileage will be reimbursed.
