About the Program

The Youth Transitional Hub provides culturally responsive support to at-risk young people through case management, diversion activities, outreach support, and safe overnight accommodation.

The program supports young people by providing a safe and supportive environment where they can build positive connections, develop life skills, access appropriate services, and receive guidance to improve their wellbeing and future opportunities. Through strong partnerships with families, community organisations, schools, health services, and justice agencies, the program aims to reduce engagement with anti-social behaviours and support young people to make positive choices.

About the Role

We are seeking a Youth Support Worker who is passionate about working with young people and making a positive difference in their lives.

Working as part of the Youth Transitional Hub team, you will provide practical, emotional and social support to young people in a safe, respectful and culturally appropriate environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Building positive and respectful relationships with young people
• Providing day-to-day support, supervision and guidance
• Supporting young people to develop life skills and independence
• Facilitating recreational, educational and wellbeing activities
• Supporting diversionary and community-based activities
• Providing outreach support where required
• Encouraging positive behaviour, decision-making and engagement
• Working collaboratively with families, services and community partners
• Maintaining accurate case notes, reports and other required documentation
• Following organisational policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and culturally respectful environment

Shift Hours: 2:45 pm – 11:45 pm

Key Competencies

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literacy with the ability to complete accurate reports and documentation
• Well-developed organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Knowledge / Qualifications

• Certificate qualification in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (desirable) or currently working towards
• Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Youth Support Worker
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
• Current Open Driver’s Licence
• Current Blue Card
• Current Police Check

Work Experience

• Experience working with young people or in a Youth Support Worker role (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workload to meet deadlines
