DESCRIPTION:

We have a permanent part time role and casual roles available.
Our dedicated Youth Homelessness Team supports vulnerable young people (aged 15-19) to access crisis, transitional and long-term accommodation, reconnect with family and build independent living skills.
Primarily based within our youth homelessness provision, our Youth Workers inspire and encourage our young people to transition through Accordwest’s programs. Our Youth Workers strive to provide a safe and nurturing homelike environment for young people by helping to build self-esteem and confidence, enhancing everyday life skills, and providing support to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Our young people can often present with complexities such as mental health concerns, experiences of childhood trauma, substance use issues, learning and development disabilities, and disengagement from education and pro-social recreation activities. In light of this, our Youth Workers must be creative, solutions focused, resilient, and have passion and commitment to our young people.
The role requires day and overnight shifts which provides the opportunity to make a difference in a young person’s life and support them to transition to a brighter future.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Development or progression toward a vocational or tertiary human service qualification.
  • Experience with case management support and contribute to the implementation of participation, safety and cultural plans.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing complex or challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for record keeping and case

Successful applicants will be required to provide

  • Valid WA Drivers Licence
  • Police Clearance (within the past 6 months)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Complete a pre-employment medical – arranged by Accordwest
  • Accordwest will submit on your behalf Department of Communities Record Check
