Description

Reporting to the Head of Zero Harm, you will work closely with Downer’s Specialised Pavements and Pavement Rehabilitation teams to identify, implement and track sustainable health and safety activities in line with the Company, client and legislative expectations. You will develop strong relationships to ensure an in-depth understanding of best practice in the industry. Role based in Underdale, South Australia. Key Responsibilities Include Ensure a consistent national approach to Zero Harm through effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of safety initiatives, knowledge management, and performance. Partner with the operational leaders and key stakeholders to build a strong Zero Harm culture, providing trusted advice and fostering collaborative relationships across the business. Identify and mitigate risks by analysing trends, developing proactive strategies, and implementing innovative Zero Harm programs to embed a strong safety culture. Support the Head of Zero Harm in executing strategic initiatives while driving the application of frameworks, technology, and business processes to enhance efficiency and consistency. What You’ll Bring Diploma or higher qualification in Work Health and Safety. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health and Safety with exposure to high-risk industries, preferably the civil construction or infrastructure space. Ability to think strategically, considering both corporate and local objectives/drivers. Ability to support investigations of safety issues and assist in developing improvement plans based on findings. Demonstrated ability to develop Zero Harm improvement plans to drive and promote proactive safety awareness programs. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to evaluate and implement Zero Harm policies and procedures and ensure compliance. Experience working closely with operational leaders. Lead ICAM Incident Investigation and/or training & assessment qualifications would be highly advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence at various business levels. Strong computer and data analysis skills that extend to report collation and presentation. Prior experience with managing return to work programs in consultation with line management; liaison with Injury Management Team. Flexible with occasional national travel.
