Description Zingerman's Deli is hiring a Porter! Be a part of the Zingerman's Deli Purchasing Team! Be a part of the Zingerman’s Deli Team! If you are interested in a fast paced, fun and friendly environment and would like to be one of our Porters–we’d love to have you on our team! You are the heartbeat of our Deli Purchasing Team–receiving and quality checking all the food and products that supply our menu and stock our shelves, conducting inventory, tracking orders and delivering the Zingerman’s Experience as you provide service to all of our Deli departments. This position pays $18-$20/hour including tips. We also pay you to learn (no prior food knowledge necessary, just a passion for learning) AND you’ll also get a free meal on each shift, a paid break, a staff discount at all Zingerman’s businesses, access to health insurance, a super discounted bus pass, and lots of other staff benefits. Compensation: $18-$20 (includes tips) Full-time position, 30-40 hours per week Flexible schedule with weekend availability Must be available to work Monday through Sunday including inventory- mandatory Sunday of fiscal month (2 hours shifts) Compelling reasons to join us! Medical, dental, vision, and 401K available Paid Time Off Free employee meals Discounts at most Zingerman’s businesses Opportunities to learn, grow, and advance within the organization Performance Expectations- Essential Functions: Receive and check all products arriving at the Deli, ensuring that quality standards are met Delivers/picks up products from other Zingerman's businesses and vendors Maintains complete and accurate electronic daily records including Receiving Logs, Purchase Orders, and all other tracking documents Quickly and effectively resolves supplier invoicing and delivery discrepancies Enter invoices in Foodtrak inventory system consistently & accurately Stocks products with attention to handling, shelf life and rotation Assists with Inventory and Month End tasks Communicates and resolves product quality issues and delivery errors Communicates regularly with Purchasing staff, sharing all receiving details from Buyers Provides excellent customer service in all interactions Maintain positive relationships with vendors and their representatives Works neatly and keeps all spaces clutter free and accessible Prepares warehouse space for volume of upcoming deliveries Tracks waste and works proactively to reduce waste in warehouses Attends and participates in Purchasing meetings (huddles) Conducts all business in accordance with Zingerman's Guiding Principles and Bottom Lines The Success Patterns for this position are: Experience using Excel (intermediate level preferred) Has a valid driver's license with a good driving record Previous experience in the specialty foods industry preferred Is able to work outdoors year-round Has excellent written and verbal communications skills Strong attention to detail Can work the last fiscal Sunday of the month (2 hours shifts) for inventory Is self-motivated, self-disciplined and enthusiastic, especially under pressure Desire to maintain food safety and sanitation practices Committed to daily detail work and the overall success of the business Great instinct to make quick and accurate decisions Drive for problem-solving Enthusiastic and brings positive energy to each shift Physical Requirements: Must be able to relocate up to 50 lbs Bending, stooping, walking and standing for long periods at a time Must be able to ascend/descend between all levels of the Deli Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Zingerman’s Deli Zingerman's is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive work environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
