Reptilia Zoo is seeking enthusiastic, passionate individuals to join its Education Programs team as Educators.
This position is an excellent opportunity for those looking to enter or expand their involvement in the animal or education fields.
As an Educator, you will be responsible for delivering educational programming in a variety of formats from behind-the-scenes tours to birthday parties to off-site meet & greets.
We are currently looking for educators with some weekday availability, and a valid G driver’s license.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills, proven ability to speak before audiences.
  • Knowledge of animal and conservation issues demonstrated awareness and commitment to the environment.
  • A passion for animals of all kinds: reptiles and invertebrates included.
  • A method of transportation and valid driver’s license ‘G’ (some programs are run at the zoo, some offsite!)
  • Must be able to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interest in biology, environmental science, education, or a related field
  • Excellent presentation and speaking skills
  • Willingness to learn about reptiles
  • Familiarity with Reptilia and our animal collection

Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of the Facility Manager and/or Head Zookeeper, deliver educational programming based on themes, curriculum, and/or specific guest requests.
  • Share conservation messaging in an engaging way, using a variety of methods, inspiring empathy and awareness.
  • Handle and care for live ambassador animals as laid out in Reptilia’s policies.
  • Travel to and from off-site locations to host meet & greets, educational lessons, birthday parties, and more.
  • Set-up and host on-site birthday parties, tours, and related events.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, secure environment for program participants
  • Ensure program participant safety and well-being, adhering to Reptilia policies and procedures.
  • Other duties assigned by the Facility Manager, Head Zookeeper, or related Management Staff.
