Responsibilities Clerical Support Greets all customers, patients, family members, physicians and healthcare team members, ascertains their needs and provides assistance or direction accordingly. Responds to the phone and call system promptly and courteously. Accurately uses the copy/fax machine and/or tube station. Assures medical record order is concurrently maintained per hospital policy and/or department routine. Assures a new medical record is accessible for patient admission. Assists in accurately ordering and scheduling patient procedures, follow-up healthcare team appointments. Assists department leadership team other clerical functions as directed. Maintains a neat and orderly nurses’ station. Assists in maintenance of department nourishment and supply inventories. Maintains a system for control and follow-up on department items/equipment sent for repair. Supports the St. Luke’s Hospital’s Comfort/C.A.R.E. Professional Practice Model in their daily work practices. Effective Communication Verbally presents factual, concise, and timely information and/or patient care data to the healthcare team, patients and/or family members in a professional manner. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, healthcare team members and other customers. Real-time EMR documentation is done in accordance with hospital and unit policies. Hand-offs are done with attention to detail and with safety as a priority. Consults with healthcare team members, as appropriate. Complies with established department routines, policies and procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or GED Ability to successfully complete a basic computer course on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) through in-hospital training Ability to effectively use information systems and Microsoft Office systems Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
