Bureau Veritas is recruiting a Microbiology Analyst I specializing in drinking water microbiological testing and quality assurance.

As a Microbiology Analyst 1, your main responsibilities are:

  • Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis.
  • Operate and maintain all necessary instruments and equipment to complete tasks (autoclaves, pH meter, incubators, Eppendorf pipettes).
  • Assess and correct problems with laboratory operations according to SOP guidelines and ISO 17025 regulatory criteria.
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
  • Identify and document all known sample deviations, non-conformances, and/or process deviations and report to the Supervisor.
  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risks of mislabeling, sample mix-up, and cross-contamination between samples and other materials.
  • Provide input to corrective action procedures and report problems and corrective actions to the Supervisor.
  • Provide Supervisor/Manager with updates on workstation status, including advance notification of any delays.
  • Evaluate and initiate problem-solving in all areas of the laboratory.
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System, and Health & Safety program.
  • Participate, when requested, in lab and Health & Safety meetings.
  • Participate, when requested, in internal and external audits.
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.
  • Keep work area clean, neat, and organized.
  • Perform all other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques and laboratory procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microbiology (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • High-level work production in a fast-paced laboratory environment. May involve repetitive processes requiring patience, tenacity, and persistence.
  • Flexible working hours, including mandatory overtime, shift work, and on-call responsibilities.
  • May require long periods of standing.
  • Some lifting and carrying of equipment or materials (up to 40 pounds).
  • Handle hazardous materials using established safety procedures and appropriate protective equipment.
