Join Mott MacDonald as a Principal Structural Engineer and lead innovative Built Environment projects across Canada! We’re seeking a dynamic professional to guide our talented team in planning, designing, and constructing a diverse range of projects, including institutional, aviation, healthcare, governmental, transportation, and general infrastructure.

YOU WILL HAVE EXPERIENCE IN INFRASTRUCTURE, TRANSPORTATION, AVIATION AND/OR BUILT ENVIRONMENT MARKET SEGMENTS AND POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• A Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering with a preference for a master’s degree in structural engineering or earthquake engineering
• A Stuctural P.Eng license, or immediate eligibility for licensing as an engineer in Canada is required
• A minimum of 15 years’ design experience in the built environment sector
• A minimum of 5 year’s design experience working on Canadian built environment projects
• Experience in the structural design of one or more of the following building types: airports, transit/train stations or hospitals
• Experience being a structural engineer of record for all stages of built environment projects including concept, detailed design and construction administration
• Experience in working directly with clients, contractors, architects and other design disciplines
• Demonstrated ability in design and analysis of structural systems including steelwork and reinforced concrete to Canadian design codes
• Ability in seismic design and analysis of structures to Canadian design codes
• Demonstrated ability in both new build and building renovation/redevelopment/ repurposing
• Strong knowledge of local and national codes and other legislative requirements
• Excellent ability in use of structural design and analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or Robot
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects and structural design packages on-time and budget to the satisfaction of clients
• Experience in mentoring and managing structural team members
• Ability in assuring the quality of deliverables for yourself and the team
• Experience in delivering projects using BIM and technology driven solutions
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner, both written and verbally
• Positive ‘can-do’ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients
• Ability to travel within Canada and internationally as required to support projects is preferred
• Experience in the application of automation, computational design and/or AI in the production of designs is preferred
• Ability in timber and masonry is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Leading structural engineering designs of buildings and transit infrastructure including management and supervision of structural engineering teams
• Managing Built Environment projects, including management and coordination of multi-disciplinary design teams
• Implementing quality control and assurance of engineering designs
• Being a structural Engineer of Record (EoR) for all stages of projects
• Mentoring and training staff within the structural engineering team
