ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Finance & Data Analyst is responsible for fiscal, economic, and statistical modeling, and policy research and analysis. Position will collaborate with the finance analyst team, work across disciplines and teams within the UNC System Office, and with all UNC constituent institutions. The position also works directly with senior UNC System Office and campus leadership on the assessment and analysis of topics in their portfolio.
Primary responsibilities include: (1) Finance Data Mart - serves as the finance lead for campus data received and reported to the UNC System Office and identifies opportunities to leverage Finance Data Mart to inform policy decisions, as well as barriers that need to be addressed to fully utilize this tool. (2) Tuition and Fees - serves as lead analyst with campus communications including instructions, compilation of data, submission review, data analysis, and creation of board materials. (3) All-Funds Budget - serve as lead analyst managing the annual campus template, instructions, compilation of data, facilitate cross-division submission review, and creation of board materials.
This position is a hybrid work arrangement and will work at least three days per week onsite at the Dillon building in downtown Raleigh’s Warehouse District. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, public administration, public policy or other related field and a record of at least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in business, government, or higher education budgeting and/or financial administration. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
Experience in higher education budget and finance • Understanding and experience with national higher education data (IPEDS, NCHED, etc.) • Experience with large datasets and data analysis software to manage, document, manipulate, analyze, and troubleshoot complex financial information • Technical understanding of quantitative research methods, forecasting, and modeling techniques • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and function in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
