A small company with big opportunities: iProgen Biotech Inc., is a biotech company focused on the research and development of innovative next-gen precision biotherapeutics. We are currently collaborating with a variety of research institutions across North America and in Europe and are continuing to expand the scope and number of collaborations.

We are interested in hiring a Chemist with any of the following experience:

• Chemical synthesis and purification
• Peptide synthesis (CEM Liberty)
• Enzymatic conjugation and chemical modification of proteins (e.g., native amino acid bioconjugation)
• Expression and purification of recombinant proteins (from bacterial and/or mammalian systems) and subsequent characterization methods (SDS-PAGE, protein concentration assays, ELISA and immunoblotting)
• Surveying scientific literature
• Project management
• Laboratory inventory and hazardous waste management

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will have the following experience:

• MSc or PhD in Organic/Medicinal/Applied chemistry or Life Sciences with 0-5 years of experience (for new graduates, previous co-op experience is an asset)
• Experience in synthetic organic chemistry with an understanding of reaction mechanisms and ability to select appropriate reaction conditions by referring to literature
• Proficiency with thin-layer chromatography, HPLC, recrystallization, and other purification methods
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to troubleshoot
• Ability to keep accurate and detailed records of observations, measurements, techniques, and conclusions
• Ability to multitask, handle competing deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and thorough understanding of laboratory techniques
• Ability to train and supervise coop students as required
