After two years of building in stealth, we’re launching next month within universities exclusive partnerships with Mastercard. Our 12-person team backed by top experts in payments, banking, legal, U.S. market expansion, and user experience. We’re building the rails that will power millions of Canadians’ daily transactions, and this is your ground-floor chance to help define the future of payment in Canada.

We’re looking for an experienced, visionary engineer who can embed themselves in our development process from the ground up to ensure everything we ship is scalable, resilient, and performant. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• You have 5-10+ years as a Senior Backend Engineer
• You are an architect of scalable, performant, secure and maintainable services.
• You develop user-friendly backends to empower other services and frontend apps.
• You have deep, hands-on expertise with the technologies listed in the section below.
• You contribute to the technical analysis and enhancement of both new and existing solutions.
• You are calm and decisive under pressure, with a profound sense of ownership that drives you to see problems through to their resolution.
• You implement comprehensive testing strategies encompassing manual, unit and integration testing for developed solutions.
• You investigate and resolve issues in live production environments swiftly and effectively.
• You communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and conviction to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• You thrive in the ambiguity of an early-stage environment, seeing it not as chaos, but as an opportunity to create structure and excellence.
• You are always curious about learning about new tools and technologies to incorporate into your work flows.
• You are a team player always ready to listen, provide feedback when necessary and foster collaboration.

TECH SKILLS

• Proficiency in cloud development (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript. Python experience would be nice-to-have.
• Proficiency in micro-services and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in developing REST, GraphQL and real-time solutions.
• Prior experience with Ledger type databases or financial recording systems.
• Infrastructure as Code (CDK for Terraform)
• Proficiency in tracing, logging and monitoring tools is a plus.
