Satellite Control Center (SCC) Systems Engineer HW/SW (d/m/w)

To strengthen the System Delivery Germany team , we are seeking an SCC Systems Engineer (HW/SW). This department develops satellite communication systems for civilian and military clients. As an SCC Systems Engineer (HW/SW), you will work on the concept, design, development, and technical procurement of satellite control centers, their expansions and modifications for MILSATCOM and commercial applications. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the satellite control centers during the routine phase of the programs.

As part of procurement activities, you will oversee the development and acceptance phase from the initial request for proposals (RFP) to the final acceptance of the satellite control centers. Following acceptance, you will support the implementation of the satellite control centers into the ground segments until commissioning. During the operational phase, you will be the technical contact person for any anomalies that may occur and will support the technical resolution of these issues (Level 3 support). This position combines knowledge from various disciplines with the ability to think outside the box.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Requirements engineering (requirements management) with DOORS in the area of ​​the satellite control center and on the levels below.
• Execution and follow-up of concept and design activities in the field of systems engineering for satellite control centers, including, but not limited to, requirements, interfaces, user data and management data flows within the ground segment as well as TM/TC interfaces.
• Definition of requirements for hardware (HW) and software (SW) components of the satellite control center and their interfaces to other units of the ground segment, e.g. earth stations, payload control centers, networks including IT infrastructure and data centers
• Development of system trade-offs in the field of systems engineering for satellite control centers and support in defining the overall architecture
• Development of the verification and validation concept at the satellite control center level and support of relevant tests at a higher level (e.g. SVTs, GSVTs)
• Development of the operational concept as well as creation of operational requirements and operational products (Flight & Ground Operations Procedures, i.e. FOPs & GOPs) for the satellite control center
• Technical support for project managers in planning, contractual changes, and the identification of risks and opportunities.

Desired skills and qualifications

• Master's degree in telecommunications, electronics or another relevant engineering discipline
• Solid experience in systems engineering for spacecraft control centers and payload control centers
• Solid knowledge of systems engineering for satellite control centers with regard to technical interfaces, data flows (for user and management data) as well as TM/TC engineering (secured and unsecured)
• Extensive experience with software-based systems, networks and IT infrastructure
• Experience in the field of ground station engineering
• Experience in the design, development, integration, verification and operation of satellite control centers, as well as the associated processes and operating procedures.
• Knowledge of communications engineering, including RF link budgets and antenna designs, would be advantageous.
• Fluent English and German skills
