JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of cloud-based solutions at GE Healthcare. You’ll lead the design and development of complex, scalable systems and services, driving architectural decisions and setting engineering standards across teams. Your work will influence early-stage product strategy and long-term platform evolution, ensuring robust, secure, and high-performing solutions that meet the needs of our global healthcare customers.
You will collaborate closely with product, research, and engineering leaders to define and execute on technical roadmaps, mentor senior engineers, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence. Your contributions will extend beyond code—impacting organizational strategy, cross-functional alignment, and the advancement of our digital transformation initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including deep expertise in full stack development.
• 5+ years of experience architecting and building scalable, distributed systems and cloud-native applications using modern frameworks and platforms (e.g., React, Angular, Node.js, Java, Python, AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional engineering efforts and delivering complex software systems at scale.
• Strong experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture and practices.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience driving architectural decisions across multiple teams or product lines.
• Deep understanding of big data systems, analytics platforms, containerized microservices, serverless functions, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience working directly with executive stakeholders and customers to shape product and technical strategy.
• Expertise in building and scaling production systems with high availability, performance, and security requirements.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills to articulate technical vision and influence stakeholders.
• Experience leading Agile development processes and driving engineering execution across multiple teams.
• Recognized as a technical thought leader within the organization or industry.
  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $193,200.00-$289,800.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). • Lead the design and development of complex full stack systems that solve high-impact business problems across multiple teams or domains.
