PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in front-end software engineering, building user-facing applications.
• Extensive, hands-on experience with front-end technologies, especially HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and Angular (preferred), including building scalable, performant single-page applications and component-driven architectures.
• Demonstrated experience integrating Angular applications with RESTful APIs, third-party services, and backend systems.
• Familiarity with other modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience with modern front-end tooling, such as npm/yarn, Webpack, and Angular CLI.
• Experience designing responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces for large-scale retail or checkout systems.
• Proficient in applying modern software design patterns relevant to front-end architecture, such as state management, lazy loading, and modularization.
• Experience creating and executing unit, integration, functional, and performance tests for front-end applications using tools like Jasmine, Karma, or Cypress.
• Skilled in modern debugging, profiling, and root cause analysis techniques for browser-based applications.
• Proficient with version control systems (preferably Git) and integrating with CI/CD pipelines tailored to front-end deployments.
• Experience collaborating with backend teams to design effective APIs and data models, focusing on the needs of front-end consumers.
• Familiarity with front-end security best practices, including user authentication, authorization, and protection against common vulnerabilities such as XSS and CSRF.
• Exposure to designing front-end systems for high availability, disaster recovery, performance optimization, and security in a retail environment.
• Experience participating in technical roadmapping, work estimation, and refactoring or modernizing existing front-end applications and legacy codebases.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers building and designing a product that our customers and associates love. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Staff Software Engineers will assist in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and production monitoring.
Staff Software Engineers contribute to foundational code elements that can be reused, as well as architectural diagrams and other product-related documentation.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a core player on the product team and are expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.
