Description

Full job descriptionThis frontline support role provides essential support enabling the development and delivery of frontline services, programs and outcomes.

We're excited to welcome a Clinical Coder to our Clinical Coding Service.

As a Clinical Coder you are a critical member of the Clinical Coding Service. You are responsible for ensuring the accurate assignment of codes from the ICD-10-AM and Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and applying the Australian Coding Standards (ACS). Code assignment will occur after effective abstraction of relevant clinical information from patient medical records. As a Clinical Coder you will actively participate in quality and optimisation coding audits, undertake data quality activities as they apply to the inpatient dataset, and actively maintain your clinical and coding professional knowledge.

Clinical Coding Services sits within the Finance & Business Services portfolio at the Sunshine Coast Hospital & Health Service (SCHHS). This portfolio provides financial leadership, business advice, and strategic financial policy and governance to enable SCHHS to deliver quality and efficient health services to the community.

The position of Clinical Coder reports to the Principal Advisor, Clinical Coding, and works in close collaboration with the Advanced Clinical Coders.

Flexible working arrangements are available, including working remotely / telecommuting.

Sunshine Coast Health is a values-based organisation. We are committed to the maintenance of a culture in which we treat our colleagues with respect as we do our patients, consumers and the community. We respect, protect and promote human rights in our decision-making and actions.

Key Responsibilities include:

Undertake clinical coding of Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) inpatient episodes by applying current edition of International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM), Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and Australian Coding Standards (ACS).

Manage workload to achieve various local Health Service and State data and activity reporting deadlines.

Contribute to the quality of the coding service by taking responsibility for personal development and awareness of updates in coding practice.

Undertake coding related tasks that support the clinical data collection for Queensland Health and the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS).

Remuneration value up to $130 277 p.a., comprising salary between $104 386 - $114 182 p.a. (f/t), or salary rates: $52.64 - $57.58 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (CC2) (Flexible full time and flexible part time positions available, hours negotiable). Applications will remain current for 12 months. Please note: only applications from candidates will be accepted (applications that may result in an agency fee will not be considered).

Why work for us?

We offer rewarding career opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas across our health service and pride ourselves on providing a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance.
