The Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) is a UK government innovation programme that funds businesses to develop new technologies and solutions to public sector challenges through fully funded R&D contracts. It bridges the gap between early stage ideas and commercialisation while enabling public organisations to access innovative, cost effective solutions. Job Description The role plays a key part in delivering the SBRI Healthcare Programme as well as the NHS Cancer Programme, supporting the translation of cutting edge health technologies into real world impact for patients, the NHS, and the wider market. Responsibilities include managing the end to end funding process, from supporting the launch of new funding calls and assessing applications to conducting due diligence, contracting and overseeing funded projects. Working closely with academics, clinicians and industry partners, the postholder ensures that projects achieve their scientific, clinical and commercial objectives. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to build and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including academics, clinicians, and entrepreneurs. The position requires the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of output. The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of programme operations and supports the delivery of ongoing strategic initiatives. A hybrid home/office working approach is required, with a minimum of four mandatory in person days per month in Twickenham. Regular travel to central London and occasional travel to event sites across England are also expected. Key Responsibilities The following activities comprise the key responsibilities for the Programme Manager role.
