We’re looking for hardworking, motivated individuals to take part in this exciting training programme which offers a nationally recognised qualification as a pharmacy technician. Training undertaken is a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship. Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but is not essential.
The post is a 2-year fixed term full-time contract of 37.5 hours/week (minimum of 30 hours/ week may be considered). Permanent employment is not guaranteed at the end of the training programme contract. On completion of the training you will be able to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacy technician and apply for pharmacy technician roles in a variety of settings throughout Dorset and nationally.
Please note apprenticeship rules and eligibility requirements apply to this post.
Candidates must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science at Grade C/level 4 or above and demonstrate commitment to study and a career in Pharmacy. Evidence of essential qualifications must be provided prior to interview . Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only.
Candidates will need to be available to start in September 2025.
You will train and work across different sectors of pharmacy, working within a variety of settings of 2 or more across Dorset (including community/acute hospital, mental health/community services, community pharmacy & GP surgeries). You will gain practical experience in each setting, whilst also receiving designated study time within working hours
You will be expected to study in your own time as well as at work, so you will need to be highly organised and motivated.
A practice supervisor will oversee your learning at each setting and you will be assigned an educational supervisor to support you throughout the programme
At Dorset HealthCare we’re on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient facilities and a wide range of integrated community and mental health services for a population of almost 800,000 people.
We do things differently here – it’s one of the reasons the CQC rated us ‘outstanding’ in 2019. It’s also why 95% of patients across our services say they have a good or very good experience of our services and 89% of staff feel they can really make a difference. Whether you’re looking to work with us in one of our bustling market towns, vibrant urban locations, thriving seaside spots, or among the rolling hills of Dorset, there are lots of ways you can make a difference in our communities.
Our 7,000-strong workforce is at the heart of what we do and our success is a testament to our brilliant people. We’re all about building a workplace for the future, we believe in equal opportunities and we celebrate diversity.
