The general salary range for this position is $105,300 – $157,900. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Managing Director, Global Animal Disaster Response for the Global Animal Rescue and Response department. The purpose of the position is to lead the global Disaster risk reduction and response program for Humane World for Animals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Master’s degree preferred;
• A minimum of nine (9) years of experience in emergency management or related field required;
• Management/supervisory experience required;
• Experience in international emergency situations and response required;
• Experience with program development and management required;
• Leadership ability in work setting. Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff;
• Ability to set a positive tone for employees during their day;
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
• Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;

• Oversees and develops strategies, initiatives, tools, plans, processes, and procedures to help achieve program goals in all stages of the disaster management cycle including, but not limited to, developing programmatic level strategies and processes, working with regional teams and country offices to develop geographic strategies, and engaging governments and other stakeholders in including animals in disaster plans and preparedness;
• Manages global and regional disaster program to achieve their goals by providing staff with guidance and advice, training, performance management, leadership development, and career development;
• Develops and oversees programmatic elements to provide consistency across geographical teams including evaluating training and resource needs as well as protocols for response and internal communications;
• Acts as a liaison between field operations and Headquarters during disaster response and recovery efforts. Communicates critical resource needs and keeps both field operations and Headquarters apprised of current and ongoing efforts;
• Provides subject matter expertise to guide communications externally and acts as a spokesperson for the global program;
• Cultivate and maintains relationships with global humanitarian emergency aid, animal protection and animal rescue organizations on matters regarding animal disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery strategies and public safety and health concerns in the aftermath of a disaster;
• Develops and manages the budget for disaster response for the Animal Rescue Team and works with regional disaster teams and country offices to develop their budgets;
• Performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
