Responsibilities: * Provide instructional support to students in one-on-one, small group, and classroom settings. * Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEP-aligned instruction and accommodations. * Support students in completing assignments and participating in classroom activities. * Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs. * Assist students with daily routines including bathroom use, lunch, playground, gym, and transportation to and from the bus, as needed. * Implement teacher-directed and approved behavior management strategies. * Use positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior and student engagement. * Promote student independence, participation, and skill development. * Collaborate with teachers, therapists, counselors, and other staff to support student progress. * Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and interventions. * Maintain student safety at all times, including during transitions and emergency situations. * Monitor student health and well-being, reporting concerns as appropriate. * Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. * Provide general classroom support including preparation of materials, organization, and bulletin boards. * Participate in departmental meetings and professional development. * Follow all school policies related to safety, student care, attendance, infection control, and professional conduct. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements: * High School Diploma or GED required. * 30+ college credits or substitute teacher certification preferred. * Must be able to successfully complete a New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Criminal History Background Check. * Prior experience working with children required; experience with students with special needs preferred. * Experience supporting individuals with behavioral needs in educational, residential, or clinical settings strongly preferred. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. * Patience, empathy, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. * Ability to build positive working relationships and adapt to changing classroom needs.
