About the role The Performance Engineering team delivers customer-facing capabilities that directly improve marketer outcomes across three areas: Fraud (detection rules, model integration, clear explanations, and case-review workflows), Insights (in-product analytics, actionable recommendations, and experimentation surfaces across the MMP), and Partner Integrations (SAN/partner APIs, parity updates, webhooks/postbacks, and durable data contracts). This role is under our Partner Integrations team to build and enhance a robust and scalable platform that onboards and operates hundreds of partners with Branch. You’ll design and deliver scalable API integrations, batch pipelines, real-time event flows, and file/S3 drop workflows so new partners can be added quickly, reliably, and safely. What you’ll do Design & build reusable integration frameworks: auth/connectors, schema mapping, validation, retry/backoff, idempotency, and backfill. Ship partner onboarding flows end-to-end: config UI/JSON, contract checks (Protobuf/Avro), sandbox tests, staged rollout, and monitoring. Implement APIs & webhooks/postbacks to exchange data bi-directionally; handle signatures, paging, rate limits, and version drift. Build batch + file ingest (S3 drops/manifest checks) and schedule/reconciliation jobs with clear SLAs and evidence trails. Add observability: structured logs, metrics, alerts, “why it failed” reason codes, and support-friendly traces. Drive quality gates: contract validation in CI, integration test harnesses, sandbox simulators, and canary/staged rollouts. Partner with PM/Partner Ops/Support to prioritize parity gaps, publish change notes, and reduce onboarding time. Document runbooks; mentor peers; raise the overall Engineering bar. What you bring 5+ years backend engineering; strong Java/Kotlin. Hands-on with partner/API integrations: OAuth2/API keys, pagination, rate limits, webhooks, signatures/HMAC, and schema evolution. Experience building reliable data exchange across real-time and batch/file (S3) paths with retries and idempotency. Solid grasp of contracts & schemas (Protobuf/Avro), versioning, compatibility, and validation. Production-grade testing (unit, contract, integration), CI/CD, and feature-flagged rollouts. Strong ownership and pragmatic delivery; crisp written design docs. Nice to have Webhook/postback delivery semantics (DLQ, replay, signing), partner ecosystems (Meta, Google, TikTok, ASA). Kafka/queues for near-real-time handoff; scheduler/orchestrator experience for batch. Data reconciliation jobs, cost/metadata ingestion, and parity verification tools.
