Your Role at St John of God, Midland Hospital In this role you will provide high-quality, evidence-based psychological assessment, treatment, and therapeutic interventions to patients within the hospital setting. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the role supports patients experiencing a range of psychological and emotional challenges through individual and group therapy, comprehensive care planning, and ongoing monitoring of treatment outcomes. You will contribute to patient-centred care by maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and adhering to professional, ethical, and organisational standards. This is a permanent part-time 0.5 FTE position dedicated to providing inpatient and outpatient services to women in the antenatal and postnatal period. The Position Deliver high-quality, safe, and ethical clinical care using evidence-based practice. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and monitor progress. Provide individual and group therapy and evaluate treatment outcomes, adjusting interventions as required. Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and provide verbal and written feedback to referring doctors. Maintain patient confidentiality and professional relationships with patients and staff. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with hospital policies, ACHS standards, and legal requirements. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical programs aligned with patient needs and best practice. Participate in clinical supervision, research activities (where required), and ongoing professional development. Work collaboratively within a supportive team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Contribute to quality improvement, risk management, and organisational initiatives. Adhere to occupational health and safety policies and promote a safe workplace. Support St John of God Health Care’s mission, values, and environmental stewardship goals. The Position Requirements You will hold full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). AHPRA endorsements in Clinical or Counselling Psychology are highly regarded but not a strict requirement for application where sufficient experience relevant to the role can be demonstrated. To succeed, you will possess high-level written and verbal communication skills, with the experience and ability to deliver both group programs and individual therapy to patients presenting with a range of psychological needs. A sound understanding of research and evidence-based practice methodologies, along with strong organisational and time management skills, is essential. You will have proven understanding of professional boundaries and a commitment to participating in clinical supervision. Working in acute and outpatient environments and experience facilitating therapeutic groups is desirable for this role.
