S2526-14 EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT - VERA M WELSH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

We are seeking a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) Educational Assistant to commence with the start of the 2025-2026 school year. This assignment involves assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. This position requires a compassionate and energetic individual to work in a team environment.
Vera M. Welsh Elementary School is located in the Town of Lac La Biche with approximately 280 students in grades K-3. We are dedicated to educate and care for our school community and to encourage life-long learning.

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

• Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
• Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
• Experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings
• Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
• Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
• Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
• Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans

TRAINING AND SKILLS THAT WOULD BE AN ASSET INCLUDE:

• Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation
• SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
