Description

Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Lead Project Engineer to join our Engineering Construction division, supporting the delivery of a major mining and minerals project in South Australia. This is a key leadership role on a large-scale project encompassing multidisciplinary construction scopes, with a strong focus on Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) delivery.

Based in Adelaide or surrounding areas, this role will provide technical and project leadership across planning, construction and delivery, working closely with the project management team, construction supervisors, subcontractors and client representatives. The position will involve regular site travel and work on a 2:1 roster as the project progresses.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business delivering complex works for tier 1 clients across the resources sector.

Working with Monadelphous offers many benefits, some of which include:

  • Be part of a high-performing team delivering a major tier 1 mining project, with the opportunity to lead complex, large-scale SMP construction works
  • Take ownership of key project work fronts while working alongside an experienced project and construction leadership team
  • Enjoy long-term career development with a strong pipeline of projects, ongoing training, and opportunities to progress across Monadelphous' national operations
  • Work for a company that values safety, teamwork, and wellbeing, offering a supportive culture, competitive remuneration, and flexible FIFO arrangements

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead the engineering and construction delivery of assigned SMP work fronts, ensuring activities are planned, coordinated and executed safely and efficiently
  • Lead the development of construction methodologies, work packs, sequencing and short-term planning to support project delivery
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors to maintain progress against project schedules and milestones
  • Provide technical leadership to Project Engineers and construction teams, resolving technical issues and project constraints to maintain delivery
  • Monitor project performance and support commercial management including cost control, forecasting, progress claims, variations and change management
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, technical and project requirements

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in a Lead Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer or similar role delivering major construction projects
  • Strong SMP experience across mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, energy or major infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated capability in construction planning, methodologies, work pack development, sequencing, scheduling and progress reporting
  • Strong commercial acumen, including cost control, forecasting, subcontractor management and change management
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience mentoring engineers and working closely with construction teams
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or related Engineering discipline, with strong knowledge of Australian standards and construction practices
  • BHP project or operational experience will be highly regarded;
  • Adelaide or surrounding area based candidates preferred, with the ability to work a 2:1 roster
