WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Sr. Federal Planner with the potential to work out of our Huntsville, AL; San Diego, CA; Rancho Cordova, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; Denver, CO; Washington, DC; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Kansas City, MO; New York City, NY; Pittsburgh, PA; San Antonio, TX; Virginia Beach, VA; Tacoma, WA; or Seattle, WA office.
Become an integral part of the Federal Planning Team and help meet our clients’ objectives and solve their challenges while working with a dynamic and growing practice promoting excellence in planning. Our expertise includes military master planning, programming, resiliency planning, facility utilization studies, requirements analyses, aviation planning, munitions planning, facility programming (15% design), planning standards, and DD Form 1391 development.
The ideal candidate will be an established DoD master planning professional with experience in a wide range of project scales and subject matter. The person who fills this position will provide project management and team leadership within the Federal Planning group for U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps clients, including National Guard and Reserves. The Senior Federal Planner will provide technical leadership for site analyses, data collection, regulatory document review, technical writing, team coordination, and client management. Efforts could focus on a single facility, a site, campus, community, or region. The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams to develop accurate and concise written and visual documentation, implement best practices and will use established team guidelines for developing deliverables and will ensure that tasks are delivered with a high level of quality. Our team offers a flexible work environment with partial remote work options. Travel, including international travel, is required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience, including planning-level analysis and reporting.
• A current passport and ability to travel a minimum of 30% of time, including flights to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
• The ability to support potential extended (multi-week) travel and international trips.
• Experience applying principles of DoD planning and regulatory requirements to create innovative and tailored planning solutions.
• Experience leading DoD master planning projects and developing programming documents for DoD.
• Analytical skills, and familiarity with research techniques for local/regional geography, site planning, and ecology to identify development constraints and deconflict project siting.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
• Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team of planners, engineers, architects, and other technical experts to meet project objectives.
• Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
• Ability to uphold workplace safety guidelines and to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work flexibly to meet project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency with CAD, ESRI ArcGIS, ArcMap, Story Maps, or other mapping software.
• Strong graphic design and visualization skills.
• Ability to obtain a US-Government issued security clearance.
• Prior experience related to Military Planning.
• Holds a professional certification (PLA, AICP, RA, PE, CNU-A, and/or PMP).
• Membership of and/or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
• Ability to grow and maintain relationships with Federal clients.
• Prior experience with project management and charrette facilitation.Willingness to share knowledge and experience to mentor junior staff.

  Expected Salary (all locations): $89,200 – 151,030
  WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
