JOB DESCRIPTION

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) helps keep Britain moving, safely and sustainably. We do this by helping people through a lifetime of safe and sustainable journeys, helping them keep their vehicles safe to drive, and protecting them from unsafe drivers and vehicles.
We are looking for Product Managers to join our team, to articulate the vision for all digital products delivered by the Driver Services Platform (DSP). Ensuring that product development aligns with the Full Business Case (FBC) benefits and delivers improvements, whilst being accountable for a clearly defined, prioritised product backlog, ensuring value is delivered to users. This is a varied and fast paced opportunity where you will have the prospect of working with multiple suppliers.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Work with the Service Manager to develop the vision of DSP product(s) and ensure effective communication to the immediate and wider service team and relevant key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership to their team of Product Specialists (PS) to ensure they can provide detailed product knowledge and deliver products in line with the service vision.
  • Work with the Service Owner, ensure the business benefits are achieved.
  • Use information and concerns from key users to improve systems and trouble shoot potential issues. Ensure the PS team identifies better outcomes and understands the implications of any change to the service on key users.
  • Responsible for prioritising all product developments and improvements and making decisions on where investment is made in improving the digital service.
  • Define the standards, quality expectation, service levels and any required process specifications for the product(s) ensuring that operational or delivery staff and/or third-party partners understand what is required of them to enable them to deliver often complex requirements.
  • Determine and plan their team requirements, including allocating resources and prioritising activities, over the short to medium term by fully understanding the business environment in which the team operates, the overall team objectives, ensuring their team fully understands and works to these requirements.
  • Communicate with all major stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve business objectives.

Great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
For further information on the role, please read the role profile. Please note that the role profile is for information purposes only - whilst all elements are relevant to the role, they may not all be assessed during the recruitment process. This job advert will detail exactly what will be assessed during the recruitment process.

WORKING HOURS, OFFICE ATTENDANCE AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
This role will require frequent travel to Nottingham, including overnight stays on occasions.
Please note that we do not hold a UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker Licence sponsor and are unable to sponsor any individuals for Skilled Worker Sponsorship. Candidates must ensure they have the appropriate rights to work in the UK before application.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants are required to hold a professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), Certified Technical Product Manager, Certified Product Manager, or equivalent product management qualification.
You will be required to provide evidence that you hold any essential qualifications at some point during the recruitment process. If you cannot provide evidence, your application will be withdrawn.
