MAIN PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Reporting to the Senior Streets Design Engineer, the Civil Design Engineer will provide professional engineering detailed design expertise for internal design projects related to streets and transportation and will act as Engineer of Record in accordance with EGBC Quality Management Guidelines. This position also reviews civil roadworks design packages for works delivered through private development, including liaising with other teams, consultants, and developers. Furthermore, this position manages City rainwater surface runoff challenges and liaises with members of the public to provide responses and solutions.
Other responsibilities may include supporting updates to the City’s Engineering Design Manual and specifications; managing or supporting streets and transportation related analysis, studies, designs, and construction, including topics such as design innovation, climate action initiatives, and asset resiliency; developing, compiling, and analyzing departmental metrics; and other duties as assigned.
When acting as the Engineer of Record in accordance with Quality Management procedures for assigned streets, transportation, and green rainwater infrastructure related design projects, this position will be responsible for directly supervising the work of CADD Designers and Drafters assigned to the project.
