As a Cook at Farthings, you will ensure freshly prepared meals are provided to a high standard.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in cooking homemade traditional meals inclusive of pastry and cakes and is passionate about delivering food which is of a high standard.
You will also prepare foods for residents who require soft diets and for those who are diabetic.
You will support the home’s food ordering, storage, cooking, service and disposal process in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990 and amendments. You will ensure cleanliness in the kitchen area at all times and undertake deep cleans of the kitchen and all food preparation and storage areas on a regular basis.
You will keep all records required by the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety 2008.
Previous experience working within a cooking and/or care environment would be advantageous, ideally you would have a Food Safety Level 2 Certificate, however full training will be given. Successful applicants are required to have an enhanced DBS and sign up to the update service. We do not offer sponsorship for overseas workers.

Farthings Residential Care Home in West Drayton near Retford are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Cook. Farthings has farmhouse origins and is a home from home privately owned Care Home with 22 beds.
Farthings is rated ‘good’ in all areas inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is band 5 Nottinghamshire County Council rated. The home holds a 5* food hygiene rating and has won the Care Home of the Year award at the local C.H.A.S.E awards. In addition, Farthings has been awarded a score of 9.2 on carehome.co.uk, the leading UK care home review website.
We have a permanent 9.25 hour contract available with an immediate start, working 0800-1800 once per week on a rota basis and could include weekends and bank holidays. There will also be the opportunities to pick up additional shifts, should you wish, to cover annual leave etc.
We pay overtime rates for all bank holidays and provide a workplace pension.
