Position: The Accounting Lead Clerk plays a vital role in overseeing daily accounting operations and supporting the development of team members. This position ensures the accuracy of financial transactions, drives process improvements, and acts as a liaison between the accounting team and other departments. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of mentoring others while effectively managing individual responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and support the daily tasks for the team of Accounting Clerks, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Monitor and reconcile client payments; investigate and resolve discrepancies. Review and correct files submitted by Client Care, Retention, Legal, and other departments. Manage and monitor inboxes related to payments, refunds, and NOCS. Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures. Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency and process improvement. Monitor and analyze accounting data; produce financial reports or statements as needed. Maintain and regularly update SOPs and training documentation. Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to team members. Conduct weekly call listening sessions and provide performance feedback. Monitor adherence to policies and escalate issues as necessary. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve client or payment-related issues. Participate in internal audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates a strong commitment to meeting and exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs) related to accuracy, timeliness, and productivity, while leading by example to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements At least two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related administrative role. At least one (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity. High School diploma required. An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is preferred. Strong excel and data analysis skills. Soft Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and accounting software (training provided). Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and support team members. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. High attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
