Senior System/ Solution Test Engineer – Networking

Role overview – overview of the focal points of this role

• We’re looking for an experienced System/ Solution Test Engineer in Networking and Automation, who is a natural leader, passionate about advancing the state of the art and about delivering innovative products in networking and routing technologies.
• Establish yourself as a go-to Solution Test Expert in delivering the next generation of applications in 5G, EVPN, Segment Routing and other virtualized network devices
• Always continue learning and developing skills in leadership and technologies: system and network, advanced routing, BGP, Segment Routing, EVPN, MPLS, fast switchover technologies, Ethernet services and more.
• Contribute to test plan development, execute test cases, find bugs, trouble shoot customer and internal reported issues, validation of fixes, and documentation to deliver high quality, functionally excellent products
• Plan, own and deliver end-to-end solution test automation activities.

• Partner with QA, SW, HW, PLM, and PLA teams to ensure excellent end to end solution test coverage for our products and solution offerings.

What technical experience and/or professional and personal skills are required for this role?

• Technical leader: Requires hands-on, strong in-depth and deployment-test knowledge of IP Routing technologies and services (Segment Routing, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, EVPN, IPv6, Multicast Protocols, Routing Policies, Traffic Engineering, Fast Reroute etc.), Network Function Virtualization stack and cloud networking related technologies and services; Network Management Systems including knowledge of Netconf/ YANG, SNMP & MIBs.; test equipment such as Ixia, Spirent, Network emulators, Juniper/Cisco products.
• Customer focused: Proven experience of driving discussions with (and presenting to) customers and translating their requirements into viable solutions; presenting the Proof of Concepts (POCs), troubleshooting the customer reported issues.
• Quality champion – review, provide comments and approve Functional specifications and Technical Requirements. Understand the customer deployment scenarios and design and execute solution test plans to cover end-to-end solution tests with the end goal of delivering high quality products and solutions to our customers.
• Strong automation background (Python programming) and trouble shooting skills is a must.
• Developed skills as an excellent verbal and written communicator with the ability to influence and absorb, germinate, and evolve new insights in collaboration with other contributors
• Must be a motivated, self-starter with strong commitment to product excellence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas.
• 9+ years of validated experience in a relevant role, preferably in a data networking or telecommunications environment
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Pay Range:
The salary range for this role is $115, 700 - $142, 300
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
