INFRASTRUCTURE ARCHITECT FOR EUROPOL AT THE HAGUE (HYBRID)

Function: Infrastructure Architect
Location: Candidate located within 2 hours of ground travel.
Remote service provision: In principle, at the start of services a period of 1 week of onboarding will take place onsite at the Europol Premises. Further, Europol may request regular or ad hoc presence on Europol Premises up to 5 separate or consecutive (full) working days per month

Seniority: Expert: either (i) a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 4 years attested by a diploma and relevant professional experience of at least 9 years gained after the award of the diploma OR (ii) a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma and relevant professional experience of at least 10 years gained after the award of the diploma
Security requirements: EU citizens for at least 10y + Prior to the start of the execution of services, the proposed consultant must present both a recent (i.e. not older than 3 months at the date of submission) certificate of good conduct , as well as a proof of submission of the application for the security clearance required by Europol being submitted to the relevant competent authority. Without such certificate of good conduct and proof of submission of the security clearance application accepted by Europol, consultants may not be involved in the provision of the services and access to Europol premises may be prohibited.
No later than 12 weeks from the starting date of the services, the consultant must provide a security clearance at level [EU Confidential] and such clearance is subject to acceptance by Europol.

REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory:

• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in an ICT Infrastructure Architecture role
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in any three of:
• Data Centre Infrastructure Design
• Network Design
• Enterprise Storage Design
• Backup or Archiving Design
• Disaster Recovery Design
• Participation in a minimum of 5 projects involving in topics mentioned above
• Good knowledge of: Datacentre, Campus and Metro Networking, both Software defined and traditional, with declarative or imperative approach.
• Good knowledge of Data network architectures, protocols and standards, covering LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN and public networks, and remote access solutions.
• Good knowledge of Datacentre architecture, Server virtualisation, Containerisation, Server operating systems, Enterprise class block storage, Backup and restore.
• Good knowledge of Enterprise Class Storage solutions; Block, File & Object. FCP, SMB, NFS.
• Good knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions.

• Devise, evolve and maintain the architecture of the core ICT infrastructure services, including the ICT storage infrastructure, virtualization solutions, including client and server virtualization, and operating systems.
• Devise, evolve and maintain the baseline network and communications architecture, including telephony, WAN, connectivity services, network management, physical facilities hosting the infrastructure, hardware, networking systems software.
• Devise, evolve and maintain the architecture of mobility solutions.
• Identify and specify ICT infrastructure components, providing guidance and review for their implementation and configuration, at an appropriate level of detail agreed with engineering teams.
• Drive the evaluation and selection of the technical products that are required to implement the ICT infrastructure architecture.
• Write and maintain ICT infrastructure technical standards & guidelines for the organization.
• Assess business cases, project proposals, and project deliverables, to determine the impact on, and compliance with, the ICT infrastructure architecture, including sizing and capacity planning considerations.
• Produce, maintain, update, disseminate and expand the set of baseline architecture documentation, including the landscape of ICT infrastructure solutions and their respective roadmaps aligned with the business strategy on one side and with the IT evolution on the other side.
• Be responsible for product management of core ICT infrastructure solutions (e.g. ICT networks, ICT virtualisation/mobility solutions and the ICT storage platform).
• Work in project teams in Prince II or SCRUM led projects.
• Assist engineering teams during complex incidents.
• Provide strategic advice to management on demand or unsolicited.
