Maritime Security Division Maritime Security Operator - MSO / PCASP About the Role As a Maritime Security Operator (MSO) / Private Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP), you will serve as a subcontractor supporting UG Advanced Protection in delivering comprehensive maritime security. This includes operational support during humanitarian movement, evacuation assistance, and rescue-oriented missions when assigned. The role requires the ability to integrate maritime domain awareness, intelligence, navigation considerations, and threat monitoring while executing vessel security protocols with precision, discipline, and professionalism. Operators must perform effectively onboard moving vessels, in confined environments, and during rapid, dynamic conditions at sea. Core Responsibilities Voyage Advance Planning and Maritime Risk Assessment • Conduct pre-voyage assessments, including route evaluation, port risk reviews, and port entry/exit planning • Identify maritime hazards, piracy zones, trafficking areas, weather patterns, and navigation chokepoints • Communicate findings through secure channels and contribute to the vessel’s security plan Onboard Protective Surveillance and Deck Security • Maintain continuous watchstanding, situational awareness, and lookout duties • Execute low-profile protective surveillance while blending with vessel crew operations • Apply counter-surveillance techniques at sea and during port calls Vessel Security Operations • Conduct vessel security drills, cabin and deck sweeps, and equipment checks • Support vessel hardening, perimeter control, and controlled access points • Enforce security protocols during embarkation, disembarkation, and small-craft transfers Armed Security and Threat Deterrence • Provide armed overwatch during high-risk transits or threat-identified routes • Maintain strict weapons discipline under maritime safety standards • Execute passive and active deterrence measures in alignment with international maritime regulations Navigation and Maritime Safety Support • Assist captain and crew with observation of navigational hazards, AIS monitoring, and VHF communications • Support maneuvering operations during harbor entry, anchoring, docking, or night operations • Maintain awareness of weather shifts, vessel traffic, and unexpected maritime conditions Emergency Coordination and Response • Coordinate silently with UG Advanced Protection HQ, UGAP GSOC, vessel captain, and port authorities • Support emergency routing changes, diversion plans, rescue operations, or humanitarian evacuation movements • Provide initial emergency care and assist embedded medics when present Documentation and Debrief • Complete detailed voyage security logs and incident reports • Provide concise post-transit summaries and after-action submissions to UG Advanced Protection leadership Required Qualifications • Prior military maritime experience preferred (US Navy, USCG, NSW, MARSOC, SOF) • Demonstrated maritime operations competence, small-craft familiarity, or vessel security experience • Valid U.S. passport and ability to travel internationally • Ability to obtain or maintain: – STCW – ENG1 – MSO certifications – PSC – Florida Class D & G – TWIC – Weapons qualifications for PCASP assignments • Clean background, professional character, and ability to pass UGAP vetting • CPR/BLS certification at minimum Preferred Qualifications • Prior PCASP deployments or commercial anti-piracy experience • Caribbean maritime experience or familiarity with regional ports and channels • RIB and small-boat operations background • FAA Part 107 certification for drone support during harbor or shoreline operations • Language proficiency in Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole Performance Standards • Maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, and maritime safety discipline • Adhere to UG Advanced Protection operational policies, maritime directives, and vessel-specific procedures • Respond promptly to GSOC taskings and encrypted communications • Follow voyage briefings, captain’s directives, and after-action protocols in real time
