The team manages assets across multiple listed equity strategies, delivering outperformance for members and reducing external management costs. The team’s deep expertise in quantitative research and data management complements both Fundamental and Portfolio Construction functions within International Equities. The Analyst assists with all elements of data management and oversight, software engineering and infrastructure management, and is involved in a variety of data and code related projects. They will also provide support to portfolio managers and assist with research and other aspects of the total systematic equities pipeline. Key responsibilities include: * Assisting with creation, execution and oversight of data processes that include ingestion, cleaning, and transformation of financial markets data for use in research and trading; * Developing tools to monitor data quality, identifying potential issues, and mitigating them; * Working with existing and new vendors to ingest new data sets, including large data sets and unstructured and alternative data; * Supporting development and maintenance of quant codebase (written in Python and SQL); * Assisting portfolio managers with data, code and automation of day-to-day activities, and the broader equity department with quantitative projects and queries; * Understanding and implementing strong risk controls on processes, systems and workflows to ensure adherence to all relevant organizational requirements, Policies, Standards and Procedures; * This is a permanent role based in Melbourne.   What You’ll Need * Very strong data analysis and problem-solving skills with experience working with large, complex and dirty data sets; * Demonstrated experience programming in Python with a data science focus, good professional knowledge of best practices in software engineering and code optimization e.g. version control, unit testing; * Experience working with relational databases, with good SQL knowledge; * An understanding of data management best practices; * Attention to detail and satisfaction from identifying and resolving data driven problems; * Good communication skills to liaise with internal investment teams, IT teams, and external stakeholders; * Tertiary qualifications in a data and or/software focused discipline such as mathematics, engineering, computational finance, computer science or data science; * Exposure to finance, investing or superannuation, particularly institutional funds management, gained through academic study and/or professional work desirable; * Prior experience working with financial markets data would be advantageous; * Experience working in and administering cloud environments.   Life at AustralianSuper AustralianSuper is committed to colleague development, and we support our people with ongoing learning, coaching and training, as well as career opportunities across our expanding global organisation.
