POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Engineering to lead our combined onshore and offshore Messaging engineering team, developing the containerized future-looking version of a vital communication application used by US tier 1 and other carriers worldwide.
This role requires a visionary leader with deep technical expertise in software development, automated testing and integration of telecom applications into customers public and private cloud networks. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering, this candidate drive innovation, optimize performance, and ensure the successful execution of messaging projects for multiple vendors’ production networks.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of leadership experience, including team management and strategic planning.
• Fifteen or more years of professional work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create processes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including customer interactions and technical sections in Commercial RFPs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in software, or systems engineering or related disciplines. Master’s degree in business or technical discipline preferred.

• Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business goals across the Location and Messaging business.
• Drive innovation and provide leadership and guidance to the engineering department.
• Coordinate with product development, program management, operations, sales, and marketing teams to execute the business strategy.
• Drive the design, development, and release of software engineering projects.
• Ensure efficient development processes and adherence to quality standards.
• Manage resources effectively to meet project timelines and budgetary constraints.
• Ensure operational effectiveness, review results, and allocate resources effectively.
• Foster organizational communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• Manage team performance and development, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Travel as required for business needs and represent the company in external engagements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of architectures pertaining to 3GPP/LTE applications; Demonstrated and significant knowledge of telecommunications and messaging protocols and interfaces including TCP/IP, SIP, LDAP, PSQL, SQL, 3GPP, SMPP, Diameter, M2M.
• Understand the transition from 3G to 4G and then 5G messaging solutions.
• Experience with containerized network functions, cloud computing and in-memory databases is important.
• Demonstrated experience in managing high-capacity, high performance transactional systems important.
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience with direct customer interaction are essential.
• Candidate must be professional, detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, be a self-starter requiring little direction.
• Candidate is expected to function as a leader of the messaging development team, and a key member of the engineering team.
