We're looking for a Data Engineering Managers to lead a data product team responsible for delivering business-critical data solutions across a complex and evolving organisation.

Several opportunities are available across different business domains, including financial back-end systems, colleague experience and customer-focused products.

The Role: :As a Data Engineering Manager, you'll provide technical leadership and people management for a product-aligned data engineering team. Working alongside a dedicated Product Manager, you'll be responsible for turning business priorities into tangible outcomes, ensuring your team delivers high-quality data products that support decision-making and operational performance. You'll balance technical direction, delivery leadership and stakeholder engagement while creating an environment where engineers can thrive.

Data Engineering Manager, key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing data engineering team.
  • Translate business and product requirements into deliverable technical solutions.
  • Drive the successful delivery of data products from roadmap through to implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Ensure solutions deliver measurable business value and support organisational goals.
  • Guide engineering standards, technical direction and team capability development.
  • Support planning, estimation, prioritisation and delivery activities. Foster a culture focused on outcomes, continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Engage with senior business leaders and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Engineering Manager, essential experience.

  • Proven experience leading a small data engineering team.
  • Strong background in modern data engineering environments.
  • Experience delivering data solutions that have generated clear business outcomes.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across the organisation.
  • Strong understanding of agile product delivery and cross-functional ways of working.
  • Track record of balancing technical excellence with commercial and business priorities.
  • Experience working within regulated environments such as financial services, insurance, banking or investments
  • Exposure to complex enterprise platforms, legacy system integrations and large-scale data estates.
  • Understanding of regulatory, compliance and data control requirements.

Data Engineering Manager, technical exposure

  • Snowflake
  • DBT (data build tool)
  • Modern data platforms and cloud-based data ecosystems

Success in This role;

You'll be someone who is motivated by outcomes rather than outputs. You understand that successful engineering leadership is about enabling teams to deliver real value, not simply delivering technology. You'll bring the confidence and credibility to work with senior stakeholders, operate effectively with incomplete information, and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.

Why Apply?

  • Lead strategically important data product initiatives. Work with modern data technologies and product-led delivery teams.
  • Influence senior business stakeholders and help shape future direction.
  • Join an environment that values ambition, ownership and measurable impact.
  • Flexible location options across Bristol, London and remote working arrangements.

If you're a Data Leader who combines strong technical foundations with a passion for delivering business value, we'd love to hear from you
