Data Engineering Manager – London


Location: London | Hybrid – 4 days a week in the office

Salary: £85,000 – £95,000 depending on experience

A fast-growing AI SaaS company is looking for an experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead and grow a Data Engineering function within AI SaaS environment


This is a senior leadership opportunity with a clear path to Head of Data Engineering as you build your knowledge of the business, its products and customers.


You’ll lead a small team of Data Engineers, take ownership of delivery and work directly with external customers. Although primarily a leadership role, you’ll need the technical depth to review SQL and code, challenge technical decisions and provide guidance when required.


What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Engineers.
  • Own delivery, priorities and engineering standards.
  • Manage customer relationships and translate requirements into practical solutions.
  • Review SQL, code and technical approaches.
  • Work closely with Product, AI and Engineering teams.
  • Improve processes, quality and ways of working.
  • Support the continued growth of the Data Engineering function.


What you’ll bring

  • Experience leading or managing Data Engineering teams.
  • Strong people management and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent SQL knowledge, with Python and modern data platform experience.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing data products or solutions.
  • Confidence working with external customers and senior stakeholders.
  • A decisive, commercially aware and delivery-focused approach.
  • SaaS, product-led, start-up or scale-up experience would be beneficial.
