May assist RN with annulation and removal of needles from grafts and fistulas. May initiate and discontinue hemodialysis treatments under the RN supervision in the dialysis unit only. Supports compliance with department policies and procedures; performs quality control procedures (e.g., machine and water testing, routine maintenance) on machines; and maintains confidentiality. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a dialysis preparation course AND one year of patient care experience in a dialysis facility or acute dialysis setting OR two years of patient care experience in a dialysis facility or acute dialysis setting. Certification as a hemodialysis technician is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
