We, at The Road Home, believe that the people we serve deserve our best every day. The Housing Advocate Supervisor will provide leadership and support to front-line shelter staff. They will provide high-quality services to individuals seeking shelter at The Road Home. This position will work as part of a cohesive team of Housing Advocate Supervisors to ensure a safe, supportive, trauma-informed environment. *Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. *This is an in-person position. Location Connie Crosby Family Resource Center (CCFRC) Reports to Associate Director Position Status Full-Time Shift Day Shift (7:00am-3:30pm), Pay Grade and Starting Salary Grade 7, $20.04/hour FLSA Status Non-Exempt Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct supervision, guidance and support to 24/7 front-line staff. Work with other shelter Supervisors to provide trauma-informed services to guests in shelter. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility for both guests and staff. Identify and communicate building and staff needs to the Director. Identify and share resources provided in the community that may best serve our guest’s needs. Serve as an integral part of The Road Home’s leadership team, providing feedback on staff and guest concerns and workshopping ways to enhance the services provided to guests. Provide staff support and management and serve as an advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness. Ensure that reporting related to safety is completed accurately. Collaborate closely with other shelter supervisors and the Director to ensure that all necessary information about guests is clearly communicated to multiple agency departments and community partners. Run daily shift change meetings with staff. Attend weekly meetings with other shelter Supervisors. Attend other meetings as needed. Manage weekly staff schedule. Ensure each shift is adequately staffed to meet shelter licensing requirements. If fewer than the minimum required number of staff are in the facility, the Supervisor should be ready to help cover a shift. Review and approve staff timesheets. Manage other departmental paperwork and administrative reports in a timely manner. Attend mandatory agency trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care, Housing Focused, De-escalation, Suicide Prevention, CPR, and more. Participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as required. Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities Model trauma-informed leadership in all interactions with staff and guests. Provide clear, constructive feedback to staff regularly, fostering growth and accountability. Hire, train, mentor, and support team members through hands-on guidance and resource sharing. Delegate tasks effectively while ensuring equitable distribution of workload. Resolve conflicts promptly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques and leading difficult conversations with kindness and directness. Uphold agency policies consistently and lead by example. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with employees to exchange feedback, actively listen, and address professional development needs. Develop and implement performance improvement plans and other corrective actions when needed, with measurable goals, equipping staff with the tools and guidance to achieve success. Collaborate cross-departmentally to align team goals with organizational mission. Monitor and ensure completion of all mandatory trainings, while maintaining accurate participation records. Track and report on team performance metrics (attendance, outcomes, etc.), as needed. Perform employee evaluations as scheduled, offering actionable feedback and tailored support. Advocate for staff needs while balancing operational priorities. Promoting Best Practice Actively engage with and honor the unique backgrounds, identities, and experiences of all individuals we serve. Education and Experience Experience working with diverse and/or vulnerable populations is preferred. High School diploma or GED preferred.
