The Shift Manager (MedTech) acts as team leader, direct supervisor of resident caregivers ensuring that the resident needs are met, distributes medications and assists in the skill training of all new resident caregivers as well as developing requests for in service training. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain resident charts, and keep other documentation current on facility forms, licensing forms, physician orders, and incident reports Ensure caregivers carry out their responsibility on the particular shift and resident needs are met to include; bathing, grooming, oral care, hygiene, mobility, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) Ensures these supports are delivered so that all residents function at their highest level physically, cognitively, and socially Assist residents with scheduled toileting, perineum care, hygiene, skin care, and support for episodic incontinence as the need arises Assist residents with resident mobility and transfers according to approved assistance protocols Assist with bathing and dressing of residents as needed Assist residents at mealtime and assist residents with personal hygiene needs throughout the shift Assist residents with daily recreational activities, including crafts, games, music and exercise and encourage Communicate resident status changes with Assistant Administrator/Care Coordinator Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages and central medication storage Coordinate physician and other appointments for the particular shift Pass medications for the particular shift and read all Shift Communication Notes regarding the facility and residents so as to be informed of the condition of the residents, and report such to the Assistant Administrator/Care Coordinator Provide leadership to direct care staffs by identifying and communicating resident care priorities ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes and follows in house safety program and insures compliance with all safety laws (i.e. OSHA, Title 22, Fire Authority, etc.) Understands and promotes the community’s fire and accident prevention, sanitation procedures, and use of fire safety equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE: The residents on the particular shift are being properly cared for and the shift runs smoothly. All required documentation has been completed accurately and timely. Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant or HHA certificate. The person selected for this position must be eighteen (18) years or older, must have prior experience in caregiving and must understand medication pass protocol. QUALIFICATIONS: Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed (with results) within seven (7) days after hire (unless regulations stipulate completion before employment.) If the exams are not completed within this time, the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed. The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that fingerprint cards and an affidavit on criminal convictions be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DSS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. An approval must be obtained in order to retain employment Willing to submit to any drug screening as requested or required. All employees must keep their FIRST-AID certification current. The person selected for this position must be eighteen (18) years or older, professionally prepared, and possess at least one year's experience caring for the elderly. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Required skills include leadership, oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal and public interactive skills, knowledge of Geriatric care and licensing regulations. Organizational Skills: Must be able to maintain organizational order and efficiency; maintain resident files, employee records and work area in a tidy and orderly appearance. Mental: Must be able to handle stress well, stay calm under pressure; Ability to think and make decisions consistent with policies and procedures and licensing regulations. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is completed primarily indoors, but some outdoor work possible. The environment can be fast-paced and the noise level may vary from quiet to moderately loud depending on various factors. The role may involve working on weekends, holidays, overtime or during emergencies based on resident needs and shift schedules. Travel is not a normal requirement of the position, but could be a possibility for training PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the majority of the shift Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and crouching to assist residents with daily activities Ability to lift, move or transfer residents using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques to prevent injury CiminoCare is an equal opportunity employer and uses E-Verify.
