Description
As a Wastewater Operator with the Water Resource Recovery/H2O Fredericton division you will be a vital member of the team operating and maintaining the wastewater system throughout the City of Fredericton including 2 treatment facilities and 34 lift stations. The successful candidate will be required to apply skills in facility operations, electrical maintenance, industrial maintenance, and equipment operation.   Qualifications Required: * Graduation from a recognized postsecondary Engineering Technology diploma program, specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology (or a related discipline), or possession of a Red Seal Plumber certification. * Valid Class V NB Driver’s license. Class 3 with E endorsement considered an asset. * Awareness of NB OHS. Knowledge of occupation hazards and safe work habits to work in a busy municipal environment. * Candidates must attain certification through provincially administered program. It is expected the incumbent to obtain their level 1 certification at the end of the second year. * Be able to work a Monday to Friday work week with an on-call rotation that requires evening, night, weekend and holiday hours.  * Ability to speak in both official languages would be considered an asset. * Applicants selected for an interview may be asked to participate in job related. testing that includes entering an underground vault and wearing an SCBA.   What You’ll Do: * Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and related equipment, sensors, pumps, motors, and other industry related equipment. * Inspect, clean and maintain sewage lift stations, wet wells, screening/grit collectors, valve chambers, and rotating equipment. Operate de-watering systems efficiently. * Install, calibrate and troubleshooting variable frequency drives, motor controllers, process/control equipment. * Maintain electrical systems, troubleshooting as needed and install new equipment. * Maintain records using computer data entry, and organization of data. * Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers and related equipment. * Using SCADA monitor, investigate and determine process functions are working optimally and make process changes as needed Use and have knowledge of personal protective equipment and use the equipment provided by the employer. * Complete sample collection and laboratory tasks to ensure plant operation is effective. * Interaction with the public, contractors and other municipal staff as required. * Required to work in all weather conditions. * Perform manual work with dexterity, competency and self-supervision.   What You’ll Bring: * Strong desire to work on a team to accomplish goals. * Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public. * Physical strength and agility to complete strenuous labouring tasks. * Knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, codes and materials.   Perks:  * Competitive Salary: $34.52 hourly (CUPE Local 508). * Biweekly benefit spending allowance of $268.03. * Health, Dental, Insurance Benefits, and Pension Plan. * Engaging work that makes a difference in our community.   Apply Now!
