Job Description:
To develop, administer, and coordinate programs and services that provide full access and involvement in university life in and out of the classroom for students with disabilities needs. This position helps to ensure CSU’s compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Student Counseling and Accessibility, provide ongoing ’support to the university in general and foster inter-departmental communication with academic and student services areas in the coordination of services and accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Analyze and interpret diagnostic assessment results and reports to determine service e_ligibili1Y and disability verification.
  • Obtain additional relevant information from other sources { ie,:· such as medical or psychological).
  • Comply with ADA and the Rehabilitation Act Section 504 accommodations as well as relevant CSU policies to enforce and implement SAS procedures • to ensure their accurate application to university-wide policies.
  • Refer to community or campus service for additional evaluation/assessment.
  • Develop and implement accommodation plans· based on diagnostic information and interview.
  • Authorize and coordinate support services support services, including reading, note taking, and alternative test taking services
  • Arrange accommodations and services for individuals with disabilities, such as American Sign Language interpreters Braille information, recorded books and materials testing accommodations, accessible housing etc.
  • Maintain a confidential file on each student containing medical documentation and initial intake forms as well as case notes on student’s performance and accommodations, housing situations and other appropriate information.
  • Act as liaison with faculty and / or staff in the coordination and implementation of accommodation plans and support services.
  • Compile a periodical newsletter or brief on the SAS for the CSU community
  • Participate in staff meetings, events and in-service training opportunities.
  • Encourage enrollment of qualified students into Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society.
  • Serve as an advocate for individuals with disabilities to ensure equal access.
  • Provide representation on relevant campus committees.
  • Serve as resource person in coordinating appropriate referrals within and outside of CSU
  • Attend recruitment seminars and special programs at CSU to provide information on the SAS.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience (include licenses, certifications, etc.)

  • Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
  • Three {3) years of full-time professional work experience providing services for individuals with disabilities, preferably in a college or university setting knowledge of Federal and State laws regarding post-secondary students with disabilities.
  • Experience accessing and entering data into a Student Information System (such as Accommodate) is required.
  • Evenings and weekends are required during peak registration periods.
