Overall job purpose
As an apprentice mechanic you will obtain the necessary training and experience to successfully qualify as a Multi Skilled Mechanic for cars and light commercial vehicles. You will learn and develop your mechanical skills in a workshop environment by assisting in the maintenance and repair of vehicles to a professional standard.
This is a 3-year apprenticeship during which you will attend college weekly on day release, completing the level 2 courses during the first two years, and the level 3 courses during the third year.
The efficiency and effectiveness of the council’s Fleet Garage affects the viability and effectiveness of several of the council’s key service areas; therefore, you will be part of a team that plays a very essential role.
