Are you an experienced electrician looking for an exciting and rewarding opportunity in a healthcare environment? Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Electrician to join their Estates Maintenance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and reliability of a wide range of engineering plant and equipment across the hospital estate, impacting patient care and staff safety.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems and equipment.
· Diagnose and Rectify Faults: Work across various systems including electrical, medical gas, nurse call, lighting, fire detection, generators, ventilation, and more.
· Emergency Support: Provide out-of-hours support on a rotating shift pattern to address urgent issues and ensure continuous service.
· Installation and Repairs: Handle electrical systems like lighting circuits, power circuits, fire alarms, emergency generators, UPS, and HVAC systems.
· Technical Expertise: Offer guidance to colleagues and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures.
· Health and Safety Compliance: Perform work in accordance with safety regulations, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care and operations.
· Shift Work: Undertake shifts that may include mornings, afternoons, and nights, and be part of a team that ensures prompt emergency repairs.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Essential Skills and Experience:
· Apprentice-trained tradesperson with ONC/BTEC or equivalent qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 considered). Applicants with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar multi-skilled role, especially in the electrical trade, are also encouraged to apply.
· In-depth knowledge of the electrical trade, including understanding of Approved Codes of Practice and current regulations related to electrical systems, safety, and compliance with health and safety legislation.
· Ability to diagnose faults, interpret technical information, and implement solutions to improve equipment performance in compliance with relevant regulations.
· Proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage urgent/emergency situations, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with service users, colleagues, contractors, and ward staff. Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as an active member of the team.
· Comfortable using fine tools and materials with highly developed physical skills. Regularly required to exert moderate physical effort, including tasks that involve working at heights, using ladders, and accessing restricted spaces such as roof voids and ductwork.
· Ability to provide on-the-job training and development to team members, staff, and colleagues across different departments.
· This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
