The Role: We are looking for an Engineering Manager – AI Incubation to establish and lead a new team of AI Engineers in our Toronto office. What You'll Do: Build and lead a founding AI engineering team in Toronto, recruiting and mentoring top-tier engineers. What You'll Bring: 8+ years of experience in backend software development, with 3+ years in people leadership roles (managing or mentoring engineers). Hands-on experience with training, fine-tuning, and deploying AI models, including LLMs or domain-specific models. Deep understanding of agentic architectures—experience designing and launching AI agents and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines in production. Strong backend engineering expertise in Python, Java, Scala, or Go, and fluency with modern cloud-native systems (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Compensation and Benefits: The typical base pay range for this role in Toronto, ON is CAD $180,000 – $240,000 per year, plus variable bonus, long-term incentives in the form of stock options and potential discretionary bonuses.
