JOB SUMMARY:

Valley Cities (VC) and community partners are dedicated to constructively addressing the opioid epidemic. The Match Peer Support Specialist is an essential member of a team of substance use disorder, behavioral health, primary care and other partnered providers who together will provide access to a continuum of services for persons with opioid use disorders, utilizing a “hub and spoke” model and a harm-reduction philosophy of care. This position will work closely with the Program Manager, Care Navigators and Nurse Care Manager to screen, enroll, and schedule clients for medication assisted treatment, Care Navigation, Case Management, counseling and other needed care and services, based upon individual care needs, geography, and timeliness of access, and will be responsible for managing/ tracking outcomes data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED minimum of one year experience in a Behavioral Health Field
• Proof of Registration as a counselor with the State of Washington, or ability to obtain within first week of hire.
• Peer Support Specialist Certification Required (Minimum 1 year experience)
• Good communication skills, teamwork, and ability to collaborate with care team members.
• Experience providing telehealth services and using Microsoft Teams
• Pass required background check.
• Must have a valid Washington state driver’s license and reliable transportation with current insurance.

• Engaging clients and their supports in a professional manner with a trauma informed approach.
• Assist with screening, program enrollment, scheduling of clinic visits and urinalysis collection.
• Monitor client progress via client tracking sheets and participate in regular staff meetings.
• Providing and maintaining boundaries to help clients and their support in working toward recovery.
• Provide all services with respect for cultural diversity and in the least intrusive way possible.
• Establish ongoing professional development goals; acquire new skills and knowledge through training and other means.
• Attend agency and program training to meet required annual standards for WAC and professional affiliations, including required in-service training and meetings.
• Manage the paperwork of assigned caseload as determined by agency policy.
• Document all client contacts and provision for services in a timely manner.
• Keep client records in compliance with WAC, Medicaid, Medicare, and the Match contract.
• The ability to provide transportation and help clients navigate various systems confidently.
• Understands and implements the King County Recovery Competencies.
• Practice and incorporate Quality Improvement principles in daily work activities.
